If you are looking for a unique experience, don’t miss the chance to observe the stars in Teide National Park. This place is known for its crystal clear night sky, making it one of the best places in the world for stargazing.
I propose here two ways to observe the stars in Teide National Park: free and paid.
Free
Go to the Mirador de los Poleos (GPS coordinates: 28.280913, -16.766712) to admire the sunset in all its splendor. Watching the sunset beyond the clouds offers an extraordinary panorama. Once the sun has set, head to Vista Point Llano de Ucanca (GPS coordinates: 28.211505, -16.635099) for stargazing.
Paid
Join a stargazing tour to learn about the constellations and get your transport taken in hand.
During my trip, I opted for the paid exploration and I regret this choice.
This option gives access to a telescope, but it is not used as much as I would have liked. In addition, the information provided on the constellations was also not as varied as desired.
My suggestion for an unforgettable experience is...
Take the free option; and
Download a constellations app to understand the stars by yourself.
This will allow you to manage your own time, to stay warm in your car if you are cold, and to have all the information of the constellations at your fingertips, and that, without spending 80 euros per person.
In both cases, don’t forget to bring warm clothes, even in summer. Remember that you are at altitude and it is night.
To conclude, the observation of the stars at the volcano of Teide is an opportunity to connect with nature and the universe in a unique way.
