This mountain pearl, located in the rural park of Teno, is a true wonder of nature. With its breathtaking landscapes, traditional houses and peaceful atmosphere, Masca offers an unforgettable getaway for those seeking adventure, culture and natural beauty.
I suggest you two ways to enjoy the incredible panoramic views of the surrounding mountains of the village while hiking.
Novice hiker
Once arrived at the village of Masca (GPS coordinates: 28.306277, -16.840443), park your car and walk through the village and paths to admire the panoramic views of the Masca gorge. Then, head towards the Roque de Abache hiking trail (GPS coordinates: 28.318638, -16.854637). This 5 km hike will allow you to admire the local flora and fauna while exploring fascinating geological formations. Expert hiker
Once arrived at the village of Masca (GPS coordinates: 28.306277, -16.840443), park your car and hike the gorge of Masca. This 10 km hike takes an average of 7 hours to complete, is considered difficult, and you must book in advance to have access. If you have your own car, you can book the access to the hike by yourself. Otherwise, you can use a company that will take care of transportation and access. Information on the gorge of Masca trail: https://www.caminobarrancodemasca.com/en/activities/booking/book-your-visit-to-the-masca-trail/#descripcion In both cases, I suggest you arrive at the village of Masca before 10 am. Firstly, because parking spaces are very limited. And secondly, the way to get there is an experience by itself. Driving this route during a less busy period will allow you to admire the wonderful craggy peaks of the Teno Rural Park and feel more comfortable while driving. And above all, don’t forget your hiking shoes.
Masca is a place where time seems to stand still, allowing visitors to recharge in a breathtaking setting. I strongly recommend that you take a few moments during your trip to Tenerife to visit this magical place.
